Kevin Pietersen’s fifty against Essex in the Twenty20 Blast showed that he is not done yet. His comeback, however, seems tough in the England team. He, meanwhile, could be making an international comeback with South Africa.

Pietersen is currently 37-year-old. And in a two-year time he would become eligible to play for the Proteas.

“You are talking about in two years’ time,” Pietersen said. “Would I? Who knows? We’ll have to wait and see where I am. I’m going to be playing a lot of cricket in South Africa over the next two years, so we’ll see.”

No doubt Pietersen loves his batting, but it will be interesting to see whether he could survive till 2019 to play.

“I love batting: I will bat for as long as I love the art of batting. I do at the moment,” Pietersen insisted. “But I’m an old man now, I’ve just hurt my calf, I didn’t field. Who knows where I’ll be in two years’ time?”

“If I enjoy batting, we’ll see where I get to,” the destructive right-hander said. “I’m in a very happy place.”
