India have named Dinesh Karthik as Manish Pandey’s replacement for the upcoming Champions Trophy. The selectors have chosen not to include Rishabh Pant or Gautam Gambhir as Pandey’s replacement.
Pandey has suffered a side strain during the ongoing IPL. Karthik was one of the stand by players for the tournament. He had a good outing for the Gujarat Lions and scored 361 at a strike rate of 139.38.

He also scored heavily in the domestic competition and amazed 704 runs at a strike rate of 54.15 in the Ranji Trophy.
Karthik is making a comeback into the Indian team after a gap almost three years. He last featured for the Indian team in the 2014 Asia Cup in Dhaka. And, was also a part of 2013 team which won the tournament.

The Indian Cricket Team is pooled alongside Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka in the Group B of the tournament. And, will start its campaign against archrivals Pakistan at Edgbaston on June 4.
