JP Duminy Announces Retirement From Test Cricket

South Africa star batsman JP Duminy has announced his retirement from the longer version of the game. He has decided to quit Test and first-class cricket. However, he has made himself available for the ODIs and T20s.

Duminy made his Test debut in 2008 against Australia in Perth. And, since then played 46 Tests for the Proteas. He scored 2103 runs with 6 hundreds and 8 half-centuries. He also has 42 wickets in Tests.

“After long and careful deliberation, I have decided to retire from first-class and test match cricket with immediate effect,” Duminy said. “It is an experience that cannot be replaced and one I will always cherish.”

“Test cricket has always been the pinnacle,” he added. “And I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some memorable highlights with the Proteas. And also in first-class matches with the WSB Cape Cobras.”
