Pacer Ishant Sharma has replaced Mohit Sharma in the Indian team for the ongoing one-day series against West Indies. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a statement informed that Mohit has aggravated his bilateral shin pain.

Mohit’s absence will hurt Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the forthcoming one-dayer in Delhi as the seamer only gave 24 runs in four overs, while bowling in the death.

“Mohit Sharma has aggravated his bilateral shin pain, and has therefore been ruled out of the ongoing India vs West Indies ODI series,” the statement reads. “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Ishant Sharma as his replacement in the Indian squad.”

Ishant, who helped India clinch the Lord’s Test with a heroic bowling performance in the second innings, last played one-day cricket against New Zealand in January. The lanky pacer has only played seven ODIs this year and taken eight wickets at an average of 48.
