Virat Kohli has urged to produce a repeat of their Pakistan demolition when they face Sri Lanka on Thursday. India have made a thumping start to the Champions trophy by defeating Pakistan by 124 runs (D/L).

This was an ideal response to the reports of rift between Captain Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble. Kohli knows that it’s a one-day competition and momentum can change quickly while playing with a team like Sri Lanka.

Kohli hopes that the confidence will help them win this match as well. He said, “Every game in this tournament is big, but we have a side with a few youngsters coming in and gradually getting towards strengthening their careers.”

“Even though we lost the toss, guys were raring and ready to go, willing to take up the pressure,” he added. “That gave all of us the confidence to start striking the ball well, but initially the openers gave us a good start as well.”

After losing by 96 runs, Sri Lanka does not have a margin for error to avoid elimination. Later on Sri Lanka was found guilty of a slow over-rate offence by the ICC.
