India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Result: Hosts Level Series 1-1 in Pune

India beat New Zealand by six wickets. The host leveled the three-match One- Day International (ODI) series. India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI result turned in favour of the India. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s three wickets, the fifty’s from Shikhar Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik help India to 6 wicket victory in Pune.

However, Indian bowlers were impressive in the series so far. They were again up to the task in Pune. The bowlers helped the Indian team in making an excellent comeback against, at one-time cruising, New Zealand in the 2nd ODI.

Moreover, the hosts managed to restrict the Black Caps at 230/9 in their 50 overs. They never allowed New Zealand’s middle-order to get going after they got an excellent start from the top-order.

However, 231 was a relatively easy chase here for India, Indian spinners performed fabulously.Kumar took most wickets in power play. Kumar got the man of the match for hat-trick wickets.

Although, Captain of the Indian team, Virat Kohli said the game was good and the team was satisfied with the win.
“Both our opening bowlers are coming along nicely. They’re gaining a lot of confidence. Today, it was more heartening to see them getting batsmen out in conventional ways,” said Kohli.

Furthermore, he said that the team was bouncing back and would want to play similar sort of cricket in Kanpur.

“Shikhar is playing really well and is pretty confident at the moment. It was crucial for Dinesh to get some runs. I look forward to challenges,” Kohli added.

New Zealand’s Performance at 2nd ODI

Nonetheless, New Zealand’s top-three, Martin Guptill, Tom Latham and Kane Williamson, stitched good partnerships. But, once Indians managed to go past them, there was little resistance showed by others.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s captain, Williamson praised Indian bowlers.
“Credit to the way India bowled; their opening spell put us under pressure. Credit to our middle order to getting us up to a credible total,” he said.
Also, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah chipped-in with two wickets each and Hardik Pandya with a single wicket. The Indian seamers bowled well with the old ball. They never allowed Ross Taylor, Lathom, Williamson and others to up the ante.

However, New Zealand has never won a bilateral series on Indian soil. Both the team eyes the final and decider match at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on October 29.
