A perfect day of Test cricket in Ranchi. Australia picked up five Indian wickets, while India scored 240 runs in the day. Pujara, however, proved to be the difference between the two sides. He scored an unbeaten hundred on Day 3.

Pat Cummings, meanwhile, tried his best to go past Pujara, who stood rock-solid throughout the day. Cummings, making his comeback in Australia team, picked three of the five wickets that fell in the day.

“Pujara was rock solid, hopefully he can put up a great show for us tomorrow,” Murali Vijay said after the day’s play.

“Definitely run scoring was difficult, they too bowled very good areas,” the Indian opener added. “If I had gone through to lunch, it would have been a different story altogether.”

Pujara (130 not out) made some crucial partnerships with the middle order. He added 51 runs with Ajinkya Rahane (14) and then 44 runs with Karun Nair (23). Pujara and Vijay added 102 runs for the second wicket.

However, Virat Kohli’s bad run with the bat continued as could only made 6 runs in the 1st innings. At stumps, on Day 3, India reduced Australia’s lead to just 91 runs. India were at 360-6, with Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha batting.
