Bengal wicketkeeper-batsman, Wriddhiman Saha will fill in for MS Dhoni, who has retired from Test cricket, in the forthcoming Test against Bangladesh in Fatullah.

Saha, who now has a major void to fill both as a wicketkeeper and batsman, is eager to cash on the opportunity he will be getting in a one-off Test against Bangladesh.

The 30-year-old Saha said he has been following Dhoni closely and his approach toward the game. He hoped that being in the dressing room for a while will help him in the upcoming assignments.

“I have been with the team for a long time now,” Saha said. “Even when Dhoni was playing, I was there to see what he does. I know how he approaches the game, have been following him closely.”

Saha said he talked to Dhoni and learnt a lot about batting and wicketkeeping. And, despite having a colossal task to fill Dhoni’s boots he is ready to take more responsibility in the Indian cricket team.

“I had a word with him (Dhoni),” Dhoni said. “I have learnt a lot of things, be it batting or keeping related issues, and I will try and implement those.”

“I have an added responsibility now representing team India and hope I will be able to fulfil all such responsibilities.”
