The Australian selectors will make a spin-focused selection for their Indian tour. And, Bailey’s recent match-winning performances in Sri Lanka has pushed his case for a recall in the five-day format.

Australia recently faced a 3-0 whitewash in Sri Lanka. They had no answers of Sri Lanka’s spin prowess. With Australia tour of India awaiting, they need to make plenty of changes in the squad.

“If they’re looking for someone who can play spin well in the subcontinent. I’m sure he’s got his name up there,” Rod Marsh said. “He will just have to back this up and…continue his good form in Shield cricket. As he did last year, to get his name up there.”

“I think the lessons he would have learnt from his first five Tests. He’s a smart enough bloke that he would carry those on into the sixth, seventh and eighth Test he plays. That’s what driving George.”

“He wants to play Test cricket again. It’s the ultimate test and he wants to get back there,” he concluded.

George Bailey made telling contributions in the one-day series against Sri Lanka. He made a 70 and 90 in third and fourth ODIs, respectively, to set Australia’s series win in the 50-over format.
