Delhi Daredevils have got off the mark by registering a thumping eight wickets win over Kings XI Punjab in their home ground, Feroz Shah Kotla.
The Daredevils captain Zaheer Khan was delighted with his team’s comprehensive win, saying that the team now needs to continue its form in the coming matches.
“The energy out there was fantastic,” Zaheer said. “We want that young energy, you want to see that energy on the field and very happy with the way the boys threw themselves around.”
“We kept taking wickets, Mishra was really good,” he added. “We want to build momentum at the right time, let everyone express themselves freely. We are playing RCB in a couple of days, and this will will definitely help.”
Leg-spinner Amit Mishra scripted Delhi’s win by dismantling Punjab’s batting with his four wickets. Mishra ripped through the visitors’ top-order and conceded just 11 runs.
Chasing just 112 runs to win, Delhi chased down the target in an impressive way, with 39 balls to spare, courtesy Quinton de Kock and Sanju Samson.
De Kock ended up making a half-century, featuring nine boundaries and one six, while Samson made a patient 32-ball 33, smashing three fours and one boundary.
