When the Day 3 ended it seemed like Australia will run away with the game. David Warner and Steve Smith looked in great touch and they looked like sealing the game on the fourth day itself.

Bangladesh, however, had other plans as they managed to take remaining eight wicket on Day 4. Shakib Al Hasan was the architect of Bangladesh’s win as they clinched the series opener by 20 runs.

“It’s a great feeling, credit to the boys especially to Shakib,” Mushfiqur Rahim said. “He was brilliant. We have been consistent in home conditions. Against England also we beat them in the second game.”

“Shakib and Taijul bowled really well. There is a lot of room to improve. The lower order has got better. But in this match the wicket was very tough to bat. We got eight wickets, the fielders too chipped in.”

“Hopefully, we will come hard in the next game as well,” the Bangladesh captain insisted.

Australia could only manage to score 244 in their second innings, after getting bundled for a paltry 217 in the first.

“It was a great Test match. Credit to Bangladesh,” Steve Smith said. “The partnership between Tamim and Shakib set the game for them. We let ourselves down in the first innings and then we did not play well in the second innings.”

“We needed someone to go out there and get a big score in the first innings. That was the difference in the end.”
