After been left out of England’s World Cup squad, Ben Stokes has come a long way and now tipped as a key player for England in the forthcoming Ashes series against Australia.
Stokes has been compared with the likes of Sir Ian Botham and Andrew Flintoff, owing to his all-round prowess. He recently scored a fastest hundred ever at the Lord’s against New Zealand.
Flintoff, who was considered as one of the finest all-rounders the game has ever seen, said Stokes is a very different player and is a future star for England.
“Ben Stokes is a fantastic talent,” Flintoff said. “He’s not the new version of me or the new Botham – he’s going to be a star in his own right and his own image.”
“He’s a proper batsman and he’ll take the fight to the Aussies,” he added. “Stokes won’t be scared of them.”
“And his bowling is only going to get better as his action evolves and he learns his craft, but he already has the knack of making things happen with the ball.”
