The Indian Cricket Team has left for West Indies to play a four-match Test series. India will be playing a couple of practice matches before the Test series, starting July 21 in Antigua.

Virat Kohli’s men will be heading into the series with one eye at the top-spot in the ICC Test rankings. The Indian team is currently ranked second with 112 rating points, behind Australia.

Team India will be targeting nothing less than a series win over the West Indies, who have struggled in the five-day format. Skipper Virat Kohli has also echoed the similar sentiments before leaving for the Caribbean.

“Whenever you go into a Test match or a one-day match or a T20 match, your first intention is to win,” captain Kohli said. “Our intention will always be to go for a win.”

“There have been situations in the middle where we have also lost but we know that we must play positive cricket so that we can get into a position where we can win and we can also lose.”

The West Indies series will see a new vice-captain for the Indian team. Middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane has been named Kohli’s deputy for the one-month long Caribbean tour.

India will be playing the first Test in Antigua, while the following matches will take place in Jamaica, Gros Islet and Trinidad. The two practice matches will be played at St Kitts’ Warner Park.
