The ninth season of the Indian Premier League will kick-start with a glittering opening ceremony today at Mumbai’s NSCI-SVP Stadium, with artists from both India and abroad performing in front of the live audience.

The IPL opening ceremony will be available live in 32 countries on Sony Max and Sony Six on the 8th of April 2016 from 7:30pm onwards.

The gala event will feature dancehall reggae trio Major Lazer with Nana Richard – Fuse ODG and Nailah Thorbourne, and pop star Chris Brown.
Bollywood actors, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif and Jacqueline Fernandez will join singer YO! YO! Honey Singh to kick-start the IPL 2016.
West Indies cricket star Dwayne Bravo will also perform for the first time on-stage of his famous song ‘Champions’.
“All eight captains will be present to take the MCC Spirit of Cricket pledge, reaffirming the values in IPL’s commitment to the Spirit Of Cricket.
“I take this opportunity to wish all the teams and personnel involved the very best for a successful season,” Rajeev Shukla, IPL Chairman, said.
The first game of the Indian Premier League will take place on Saturday between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants at the Wankhede Stadium.
