Now that’s called 100 per cent commitment! Virat Kohli is not in best of touches lately, although it is just a temporary thing, but the India Test skipper is leaving no stone unturned to get his midas touch back.
Virat Kohli has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to select him in the India A side for the 2nd unofficial Test against Australia A to get practice for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.
Team India is set to play a three-match Test series against the Islanders, starting August 12 at the Galle. Although, there is a practice game scheduled ahead of the series, but captain Kohli want to have more playing time under his belt.
The Indian Cricket Board has confirmed while announcing the 15-member squad for the Sri Lanka series that Virat Kohli has indeed requested to play the 2nd unofficial Test against Australia.
India A team will play the 2nd unofficial Test, starting July 29, on the same venue where the first match of the series is going on, in Chennai.
Virat Kohli, meanwhile, will be getting much-needed match practice after spending a good amount of time off the field. As he, along with other senior members, was rested for the limited-over series against Zimbabwe.
The Delhi-born Virat Kohli will be leading India for the first time in a full-fledged series, after captaining the side in the one-off, rain-curtailed Test against Bangladesh in Fatullah.
In a sought to get into the match mode, playing Australia would be ideal for Kohli, who has featured in 34 Tests and scored at an average of 45.73, making 10 hundred and as many fifties.
This would be the first time Kohli playing a Test match in Sri Lanka. The Indian team would reach the Island nation on August.
