The Indian team capped-off its home season with a fantastic win over Australia in Dharamshala. They regained the Border Gavaskar Trophy with a 2-1 series win Australia, who proved to be their toughest opponents this season.
Virat Kohli’s men lost the series opener in Pune on a rank-turner. They, however, came out with all guns blazing in the next game to level the series. Australia managed to draw Ranchi Test, but India sealed the win in Dharamshala.
“This is our best series win so far,” Kohli said. “I thought England was intense, but the way Australia gave us a fight it was amazing on their part but our guys kept bouncing back. Shows the character and maturity.”
“The changes we made in our fitness regime have paid off. Guys have been able to sustain the performance throughout the season. In the past we have had sessions where we have given away the game easily. Not this season.”
The Indian team always had an extra performer in the side in the series. KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane and others too stood firm when required.
“Been a team season. Not one or two individuals who have stood out,” Kohli said. “Unbelievable, the kind of fitness and desire the fast bowlers have shown, it has been game-changing.”
