After losing the T20 and Test series, winning the Test series with a game to spare has come as a relief for Team India, who defeated South Africa comprehensively inside three days in Nagpur.
Test skipper Virat Kohli has praised Ravichandran Ashwin for scripting Team India’s win in the 3rd Test, as the off-spinner took seven wickets in the second innings, and completed his ten-wicket haul.
“Ashwin is a world-class spinner, he stepped up in a big way for us, maybe the best in the world at the moment, we expected them to string in a partnership or two,” Virat Kohli said.
“This is what Test cricket is, we need patience with the ball and believing a chance will come,” he added. “Mishra showed great character in that period. I think it was a challenging wicket, the batsmen applied better in Mohali.”
Virat Kohli equally hailed his batsmen for playing with application on a challenging track, and giving a imposing target to South Africa in the Nagpur Test.
“It is all about application,” Virat Kohli insisted. “There are no sorts of excuses on that, our batsmen showed character in three innings. Sometimes you have conditions where it is going to be bowler-friendly, chances can be created.”
