Although, India’s win over England was a team effort, but Virat Kohli’s performance made a huge difference in the game. He scored a total of 248 runs in the match, including a big hundred in the first innings.
Kohli was quite pleased, and rightly so, with his performance in Vizag. He led from the front, timed the ball well and held the innings together. The Indian captain turned out to be the match-winner in Vizag.
“It’s been a lucky ground for me and it remains a special ground, similar feel I get to Adelaide,” Kohli said. “You want to play exciting cricket because so many people come to watch. They help you through tough situations.”

Kohli pointed out that, as expected, the bowlers didn’t get assistance from the pitch. He, however, added that the scoreboard pressure got the better of England batsmen in the second innings.
“We wanted to make sure we batted five sessions, get 450+ which is what we did, then the bowlers were always on top. Scoreboard pressure really counts. There wasn’t much happening in the wicket, but the batsmen succumbed.”
