India might have been outplayed in the five-match ODI series, but they have a better chance against Australia in the three T20s, starting January 26 at the Adelaide Oval.
With Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan are firing at the top, and Yuvraj Singh joining the likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, India are looking a better balanced in T20s.
Pacers might have been a worry for the Indian team, but the spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja, in particular, had a good ODI series with the ball.
“Look, I think India are much better balanced in T20 cricket; they have good top three batsmen, MS Dhoni is the finisher in the middle, Yuvraj (Singh) is coming too and then you have the spinners,” Dean Jones said. “It is a balanced side, just not for ODIs in Australia.”
Jones pointed out that India were experimenting in the ODI series, and they would be more concerned about winning the T20 series.
“The bottomline is what India, and MS Dhoni, want out of this tour. I am sure they wanted to win the ODI series but they were also giving a lot of youngsters chances in the ODIs.”
“I think India will be more worried about winning the T20 series,” Jones concluded. “That’s the priority.”
