Australian camp was on cloud nine after winning over. Steven Smith, the man of the match, was superb on the field like a dream come true.
When asked about his reaction to Australia’s win, he said: “It certainly does feel good to win a big match. We thought a 330-run score was around par. Still we had to bowl and field well and the boys did a terrific job.”
Throughout the summer, India struggled to beat Australia and more importantly, struggled to beat Smith. But a World Cup semi-final win against India is always special and this Australian would remember this day forever.
Smith himself admitted that the match against India was a big and his team is ready to take New Zealand in the final. “This is big stage tonight, semi-final of a World Cup, just nice to get over the line at the end. I always think of those people who’ve helped you along the way, really happy where everything at the moment and looking forward to Melbourne,” he pleased Smith added.
Australia skipper Michael Clarke, meanwhile, was also delighted with his team’s performance.
“Obviously really excited, the boys played some outstanding cricket, Smithy’s hitting the ball so sweetly and I was really proud of the execution of our bowlers,” Clarke said. “A lot of the guys sacrificed themselves for the team. Thanks to MS Dhoni and the India team, they’ve given a lot over the summer.”
