If India are able to beat Sri Lanka in the shorter formats, it would be a perfect icing on the cake. This is also good news for the Virat Kohli followers that his team is able to achieve the Lankan front with bare minimum effort.

Not for once in the series, Sri Lanka have looked like a team playing at home. In other words, the bat and ball contest has been missing in the series. The flashes of brilliance did come from a very few Lankan players.

With a little semblance of fight, the Test series wasn’t a great hit. But what the true fans would be expecting is to see a thrilling game. Perhaps, this is reason why T20 cricket scores more than ODIs and Tests.

Because the quantum of thrills and frills in a T20 game is so much that even the returns are much higher. It is estimated that a broadcaster for India matches at home makes more than Rs 60 crore from inventory.

Meanwhile, returns from both ODIs and Tests isn’t more than Rs 20 crore per game. Reason? T20 is a perfect recipe for thrill and excitement. If Test series like the famous one in 2001 between India and Australia are repeated, Test cricket is bound to do well in terms of economics and popularity wise.

Therefore, it’s important that international series are played with a right balance. Otherwise, popularity of both Test and ODI cricket is going to dip further. Both team need to make Sri Lanka vs India ODI Series count.
