Crowd’s unruly behaviour in the 3rd ODI between India and Sri Lanka left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. It was towards the fag end of the game when a section of crowd started throwing bottles on the field.

The security immediately emptied that section, and the game resumed. India went on the clinch the game, but it raised questions on players’ security. The ICC, however, is ensuring that such incident doesn’t repeat in the series.

Andy Pycroft, ICC match referee, has asked security assurance from the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for the upcoming matches. The 4th ODI will take place in Colombo on August 31.

“We have lined up a few meetings,” an SLC official told Cricbuzz. “There are few internal meetings and then we will meet the security officials to discuss what needs to be done.”

“There are security plans that we have and we will share it with security officials,” the source added. “We will also take measure to educate the public and we are hopeful that things will not get out of hand in Colombo.”

The Indian team has already sealed the five-match series with two games to spare.
