KL Rahul’s penchant to score fifties is known to everyone. But getting out on fifties is happening too often with him. It must be frustrating to lose his wicket to a run-out after all the initial hard work in the middle.
India did everything right from the very beginning of the 2nd Test match in Colombo. The visitors won the toss, opted to bat. Then Rahul made a watchful 57 and lost his wicket just he was all set for a big one.
Eventually, both Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane did make up with two brilliant centuries. But, Rahul could have also made it to the list of centurions. There was a little pressure on India after the departure of Virat Kohli.

But, both Pujara and Rahane played their trademark shots to bail India out of further trouble. It’s also true that the opening partnership between Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan helped India to lay the foundation.
But at the end, it was the partnership between Pujara and Rahane that changed the course of the match. By doing what India did, the visitors are right on top against Sri Lanka.
If at all the Lankans want to dream of a comeback into this match, their bowlers would have to put up an inspirational performance on Day 2. Then it’s upto their batsmen to spend as much time in middle as possible.
