India have set an improbable 550-run target for Sri Lanka in the 1st Test. The visitors declared their 2nd innings at 240-3, soon after captain Virat Kohli completed his hundred. Kohli made an unbeaten 103 in Galle.

It’s going to be a daunting task for Sri Lanka to save the Test match, leave alone winning it. They have more than five sessions to negotiate. Moreover, they have to face the Indian attack, which bundled them for 291 in the 1st innings.

The Lankans, meanwhile, haven’t had the best of starts, as Mohammad Shami rocked them early. Sri Lanka lost their opener Upul Tharanga in the 3rd over itself, when he dragged Shami’s back of a length delivery onto the stumps.

Just 2 overs later, Umesh Yadav gave them another blow, as Gunathilaka flicked one straight to Cheteshwar Pujara.
