Sammy and Sami’s brilliance with the bat and the ball:
Skipper Darren Sammy’s late cameo proved to be a match decider when the Kings’ posted a mammoth total of 185 against the Victorians. Rajshahi Kings eventually won the match by 30 runs in a BPL game yesterday. After Sammy’s brilliance, Mohammad Sami took 4 wickets for 9 runs and helped Rajshahi put an end to Comilla Victorians’ five-match winning streak.
However, Luke Wright also gave credit to Mohammad Sami for his bowling performance but he also added that Sammy’s blitzkrieg with the bat had set the tone for the bowlers.
“Darren Sammy made a huge difference. I think if we had just got 150, we would have probably lost. And then Mohammad Sami with the ball was amazing, but I think Sammy put massive pressure on them, which helped to take those wickets in the end,” said Luke Wright.
Sammy – The Underrated Finisher
Sammy scored 47 runs in 14 balls including 6 sixes and a four, out of which 4 sixes came in the last over of the innings.He hit Saifuddin for 32 runs in the last over and finished with a strike rate of 335.71 which is the highest by a batsman to have scored more than 40 runs in an innings in BPL.
Moreover, at one stage Rajshahi Kings were looking to settle for an average score till the 19th over of their innings but then Sammy had his own views regarding finishing the innings. Saifuddin took 3 wickets for 16 runs in his first 3 overs , but Sammy demolished him for a 32 run over in the 20th over of the innings. Saifuddin now holds the record of conceding most runs in an over in BPL history.
