Robin Uthappa is one of the most consistent performers for both Karnataka and Kolkata Knight Riders. The 28-year-old looked a different player this season with his eye-catching performances and played a crucial role in steering KKR to the CLT20 final.

Uthappa, who last played for the men in blue against Bangladesh in June this year, looked to have evolved as a batsman and has credited Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and batsman Virat Kohli for the betterment of his game.

The stylish right-hander insisted that from Dhoni and Virat he has learnt to remain true to his batting nature, without doing too many changes in the playing style.

“I believe that I have evolved as a batsman,” Uthappa said. “I have learnt enough about the game and I believe that there is no point in tweaking the ongoing process too much.”

“You have to stay true to your skills,” he added. “I have learnt this from guys like Virat (Kohli), Suresh (Raina) and MS. They have done what fits their game.”

Dhoni is known for his unorthodox, yet effective batting style in all formats of the game. The Indian captain is one of the leading run-makers in recent times for Team India.
