By the times, India play another 10 more Test matches at home against top teams like England and Australia, Ravichandran Ashwin could come close to securing 300 Test wickets.
The pace at which he is going, he could also become the fastest to bag 300 Test wickets, who knows! Yes, Ashwin can do anything under the sun. The Indore match was yet another testimony of his perseverance and the ability to take wickets at regular intervals.
In the 3rd Test Ashwin bagged 13 wickets in total and was adjudged the man of the match. He is bowling like a man possessed. He is also emerged as the most successful bowler under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.
Ashwin has 106 wickets from 16 Test matches. From what it appears, Ashwin would also become a top-ranked bowler in ICC ratings, which would be a great sign for Indian cricket.
India’s ace fast bowler and perhaps the best bowlers for shorter formats, Ashish Nehra, called Ashwin “the wicket machine”. Ashwin also won the seventh man of the series award, has extended his Indian record for fetching more such awards in Tests.
The next two in the list are Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. While the likes of Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and Rahul Dravid share the third place with four man of the series awards.
This itself is an incredible achievement for Ashwin, who is easily one of the best spinners in world cricket today.
