The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) is now looking beyond the current list of applicants to search Anil Kumble’s successor as the Indian Cricket Team coach. This development has paved way for the entry of Ravi Shastri.
Shastri has always been the top choice of captain Virat Kohli. He has worked closely with the Indian Cricket Team as team director. Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus and Lalchand Rajput have also applied for this post.
The CAC had made it clear that it would take time to find a new coach. The announcement could be made after the West Indies series. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) isn’t happy with the current list of applicants.
The BCCI on Wednesday admitted that they failed to resolve the differences between Kumble and Kohli. BCCI acting president CK Khanna said, “Team India will get his new head coach before tour to Sri Lanka. The assignment of the new head coach will be till the next World Cup to be held in June 2019 in England.”
