West Indies performed pretty well in facing the verbal barrage, not quite so when it came down to facing quality Australia bowling and they slumped to yet another defeat, losing the Test series 2-0.

Jason Holder a day before said they can turn around the Test match despite heading into the fourth day two wickets down. But, as expected, they faced a thumping 277 runs defeat in just four days.

It was a spineless performance from West Indies batsmen at the Sabina Park, leave alone winning they were nowhere near to saving the Test match, despite Jerome Taylor’s splendid bowling effort.

Australia bowling, led by Mitchell Starc, proved too good for the Caribbean outfit to handle and they were bundled for a mere 114 in Jamaica, after managing 220 in the first innings.

On the other hand, Australia were superb in all departments and managed to enough on the board to ensure West Indies didn’t get any chance of leveling the series, after losing the opening match.

Steve Smith was the standout performer for the Aussies. He smashed a flowing 199 in the first innings, followed by a half-century in the second.

“To win the first one in three days and this one in four days is a fantastic achievement,” Australia skipper Michael Clarke said. “We’ve obviously played really well here.”

“We’ve got another tough series coming up in England but right now it’s about enjoying the success we’ve had here in the West Indies. “I think we played some really good cricket throughout this series in both Test matches.”

“It was nice to see the batters make the runs and the bowlers bowl as well as they have. The bowlers were exceptional throughout this series on wickets that were quite slow.”

“There wasn’t much pace and bounce there for the fast bowlers but I thought they worked really hard,” Clarke concluded.
