You either learn easily or in a hard way, Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman learnt in a hard way in his ODI debut against India.
Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur made a dream debut by finishing with a fifer and taking his team to a historic win over India in Mirpur.
The young Bangladesh pacer had an eventful outing and learnt a few lessons when he tried to obstruct MS Dhoni in the 24th over of the Indian innings.
Mustafizur, in his follow through, went into Dhoni’s way and the India skipper ran into him, sending the 19-year-old completely out of the picture.
Due to the collision, Mustafizur had to leave the field to receive some treatment. He later returned to the field to run through the Indian batting line-up.
“Well, I thought he will move, he thought I will move and both of us ended up colliding because I had to take the closest path possible getting to the other end,” Dhoni said. “If I am going around the bowler, more often than not they’ll get the batsman out.
“So either I should have moved to the right or he should have moved to the left but both of us thought maybe the other guy will, but we ended up with a, what you can say, a typical kind of a street clash. Thankfully he didn’t get injured, and I didn’t get injured.”
Mustafizur had developed the habit of coming in batsmen’s way, as earlier he obstructed Rohit Sharma, who somehow avoided the Bangladesh pacer.
But, Dhoni couldn’t avoid Mustafizur, who looked like coming into his way intentionally. Dhoni quickly suggested the umpire about what happened.
It turned out quite a learning lesson for Mustafizur, in a hard way of course, as he survived almost being shoved off by someone as big as Dhoni.
