MS Dhoni’s Rising Pune Supergiants Out of IPL Playoffs

The Tuesday night result wasn’t the outcome Rising Pune Supergiants would have been hoping for when they restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to a moderate total.

But, despite a good effort with the ball, the Supergiants couldn’t seal the encounter and lost the match by four runs to crash out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Sunrisers are now at the top of the points table with seven wins in ten matches. A couple of more wins will seal their place in the IPL playoffs.

Earlier, asked to bowl first, the Supergiants managed to restrict the visitors to a mere 133. In reply, MS Dhoni’s men fell short of the total by four runs at the end.

Adam Zampa was the star performer for Rising Pune Supergiants, and finished with an impressive figures of six-for 19 in his full quota of four overs.

Pune never looked like chasing the total set by the Sunrisers and kept losing wickets at regular intervals, after the departure of Ajinkya Rahane in the first over.

Skipper Dhoni, however, tried to revive the innings, and was at his usual best. But his run out in the penultimate ball of the match dashed the hopes of Pune.

In the final ball, Zampa got a fine edge but Naman Ojha stretched full-length to pull off a spectacular catch, and seal the game for Hyderabad.
