MS Dhoni says Bangladesh are no pushovers, but feels they need consistency

MS Dhoni will take over captaincy duties of Team India in a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, starting tomorrow in Mirpur, but the skipper feels it won’t be a walk in the park for the men in blue.

Bangladesh have recently whitewashed Zimbabwe and Pakistan, showing they are no pushovers at home. Playing India, however, would be a different ball game altogether for Bangladesh.

Dhoni said the team is not taking Bangladesh lightly owing to their recent success, but added the Tigers need more consistency at the international level.

“Bangladesh are a very good ODI team,” Dhoni said. “We aren’t taking them lightly. Bangladesh have to play a bit more consistently.”

The India limited-over skipper also pointed out improvement in the performance of Ravichandran Ashwin, and called him a “thinking cricketer”.

“Ashwin has shown tremendous improvement,” Dhoni pointed out. “He is a thinking cricketer. He’s very important for us. He can bat as well.”

Dhoni had been under scrutiny for keeping Ravindra Jadeja in the squad, but the skipper insisted the Saurashtra all-rounder has done decent job after coming back from an injury.

“Ravindra Jadeja has done a decent job so far,” Dhoni insisted. “He has got more confidence getting out of the injury.”
