The Indian team for the forthcoming limited-overs tour to Australia will be announced by the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on December 19 in Delhi.
“The squad for Australia would be selected (by the selection committee headed by Sandeep Patil) at Delhi on December 19,” a source was quoted in media.
MS Dhoni, who is currently playing for his home team Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, will be leading India in five ODIs and three T20s in Australia.
The Australia tour will start Team India’s preparations for the World T20, slated to start in March. Team India will also be playing Twenty20 Asia Cup ahead of the World T20.
Dhoni’s last assignment with Team India was the limited-overs series against South Africa at home.
India limited-overs skipper has an impressive record in Australia, as he has scored 774 runs at an average of 48.37, including five half-centuries, in 27 ODIs.
Team India are scheduled to play five-match ODI series, starting January 12 at the WACA, followed by three-match T20 series, starting at the Adelaide Oval.
