Team India remained alive in the T20 series by hammering Zimbabwe in the 2nd T20. India won the game by a thumping margin to set Wednesday’s game as the series decider.
The Indian captain MS Dhoni was pleased by the way his team, bowlers in particular, performed in the game. They restricted the hosts inside 100 to set up an easy win.
“Bowlers started it all, important to start well,” MS Dhoni said. “I was a bit worried that it was the third match on the same wicket. Backed by some good fielding.”
“I emphasized that we hard to run harder than we did in the last game,” the Indian captain added. “In the shorter format, it is very important.”
In the must-win tie at the Harare Sports Club, Dhoni decided to include Dhawal Kulkarni and Barinder Sran, who were rested in the last match.
His decision paid dividend when Sran, making his T20 debut, ripped through Zimbabwe’s top-order. The left-arm quick picked four wickets with the new-ball.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah wretched havoc with the old-ball. He ran through Zimbabwe’s tail, and finished with three wickets. Kulkarni and Yuzvendra Chahal picked one apiece.
The 3rd T20 of the series will take place at the same Harare Sports Club on Wednesday.
