The Indian team has benefited a lot from their strong showing in the recently concluded Sri Lanka series. India blanked the Lions 5-0 in the ODI series. They hammered the hosts right, left and center to clinch the series.
Their performance is also reflecting on the latest ICC ODI rankings. Virat Kohli (887 points) has consolidated top-spot in the rankings. He has equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of highest points pocketed by an Indian batsman.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has also gained places and is now just outside the top-10 on decimal points. He and New Zealand’s Martin Guptill have 749 rating points each. But, the Blackcaps is ahead of decimal.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni played a couple of match-winning knocks for India in the series. It also include a match-saving knock in the 2nd ODI. MS Dhoni, interestingly, remained unbeaten throughout the series.
Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, is placed 9th in the ICC ODI rankings. He scored a couple of centuries and a fifty in the series. Shikhar Dhawan is the fourth highest-ranked Indian on 14th position with 733 rating points.
Pacer Jasprit Bumrah is 4th on the list, which is topped by Australia’s Josh Hazlewood. Axar Patel has broken into the top-10, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar is now placed 14th on the latest rankings.
