India’s most successful captains and one of the finest wicketkeeper batsmen to have graced the game, MS Dhoni’s name is mentioned in the same breath with cricket’s greatest players of all time.

The man whose passion for the armed forces is well known has recently completed his intense training with Indian Army’s Elite Para Brigade. But Captain Cool is showing no signs of fatigue.

He is already on his way to London to extend his support to the British Army at the inaugural T20 cricket match fundraiser, ‘Cricket for Heroes’ being held at The Kia Oval on Thursday, 17 September 2015.

Global cricket stars past and present will contest the match that is being organized by Help for Heroes, a UK military charity, to raise money for the ongoing support of the sick, injured & seriously wounded British soldiers and their families, with up to 30% being allocated to overseas charities in conjunction with the invited players.

Allan Lamb, former England cricketer and the Chairman of selectors for Cricket for Heroes struggled to get down to XI when selecting both teams – Help for Heroes XI and Rest of the World XI.

MS Dhoni will join fellow Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi and South African ace Herschelle Gibbs in the Help for Heroes XI captained by England Director of Cricket Andrew Strauss and managed by the legendary Sir Ian Botham.

They will take on a Rest of the World XI containing Brendon McCullum, Matthew Hayden, Mahela Jayawardene and Graeme Smith as well as players such as Kiwis Scott Styris and Daniel Vettori. The team is being coached by Gary Kirsten and managed by the great Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar.

Prior to the match on Wednesday, 16th September, MS Dhoni along with other players will be hosted by Michael Fallon, Secretary of State for Defence and David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, for a welcome reception and charity dinner in honor of the Help for Heroes foundation.
