The World Cup is not far away now and every team is looking to get its combinations right before the mega event and India is no different. India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to make the tri-series count and prepare the team for the World Cup.
MS Dhoni admitted that the conditions in Australia-New Zealand are different from the sub-continent and it would be a different ball-game altogether for the defending champions.
“The triumph at Wankhede four years ago was in familiar, home conditions,” Dhoni recalled. “Here the conditions are very different. There are many factors that will determine who wins the World Cup.”
“I think most of the top teams are playing good cricket right now,” he pointed out. “So it will all depend on who plays better on a given day.”
India will play a tri-series, featuring Australia and England, in a bid to prepare for the World Cup and skipper Dhoni insisted that the series would give players a good opportunity to get ready for the title defense.
“We hope to get our combination right before the World Cup,” Dhoni said. “Many players were sitting idle till now and the tri-series will give them and the others the chance to get into the ODI groove.”
