MS Dhoni was not happy with the delay in the 2nd T20 against the West Indies, and took a stern action in this regard. The Indian captain, reportedly, has filled a strong complaint to the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI).

The delay in the 2nd T20 cost India the series. Sunset and Vine, a production house incharge of telecasting the game, failed to uplink signals, resulting in a 50-minute. Eventually, the game started late and India lost the series.

According to the ICC guidelines, the match start can only be delayed in case of rain, poor light and unfit playing surface. Owing to this, the delay does not go down well with the Indian captain.

“Dhoni’s argument was simple,” a source informed. “He wanted to know if it was within the rules to delay the match because of a satellite failure. He wanted to know what happens to those who are in the ground. And, had bought expensive tickets for the match.”

The reports suggest that MS Dhoni repeatedly asked for the match to start. He even suggested that the delay might impact the game eventually. Meanwhile, the broadcasters kept asking time from the Indian captain.

This was the first time a match start got delayed because of technical issues. In 2012, a match between India and Sri Lanka was delayed because of power failure. In 2011, Neo Sports got into a legal tussle with Doordarshan, during a match between India and England.
