Barbados looked to be in cruise control when its spinners picked up quick wickets in the middle but Patel and Miller stitched an unbeaten 47-run partnership for the seventh wicket to drive their team home.

Chasing a competitive 175-run target, the Kings were off to a solid start as openers Virender Sehwag and Manan Vohra (27) made a 41-run partnership.

Sehwag, against his attacking style, made a patient 25-ball 31 and stitched a 35-run partnership with Wriddhiman Saha to put the IPL team in cruise control.

The Tridents, however, picked three quick wickets of Saha (14), Glenn Maxwell (16) and Sehwag (31) to come back into the contest.

The departure of George Bailey (7) and Thisara Perera (0) did not do goods for the hosts but Miller and Patel prevented any further jolts.

Earlier, put into bat, the Tridents posted a competitive total, courtesy of scorching half-centuries from Dilshan Munaweera (50) and Raymon Reifer (60).
