Indian fast bowlers have not been able to trouble the English batsmen in these conditions so far, and it’s not a great sign for the Indian camp for the tour ahead. Undoubtedly, the Nottingham wicket is proving to be a bowler’s nightmare but the Indian bowling camp have to come up with something special in order to get a result in this Test. Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami have been able to generate a bit of reverse swing from the old ball, but they have to do it consistently and need to have a proper plan in place in order to pick wickets. The dry surface and rough patches would certainly tempt Ravindra Jadeja, who would prove deadly as the game progresses. But he needs support from the other end as well and that will be a major concern for Indian skipper MS Dhoni, as none of his fast bowlers have been able to trouble the English Batsmen.
Making his debut in this game, Stuart Binny has not had the best of the starts to his Test career as he has been attacked by Sam Robson and Gary Ballance right from his first over. Stuart is someone who likes bowling on pitches where there is some support for the fast bowlers, but Test cricket is not only about that. He has to quickly learn the art of bowling on placid tracks as well.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how the next two sessions turn up and MS Dhoni uses his bowlers.
