Bhuvneshwar Kumar showed great character in his handy innings of 48 not out and has set an example too for some of his new Indian team mates, who need to quickly learn on this tour the art of building an innings once they get the important start. It was also disappointing to see the Indian skipper MS Dhoni missing out on a well-deserved hundred by falling victim to a direct hit from James Anderson.
The Nottingham pitch looks a complete placid track and I won’t be surprised if both these batsmen are able to contribute another 30-40 runs for their team, which again would only add frustration in the English Camp. The home team’s main worry has been a lack of quality spinner, who could have proved to be an asset for Alastair Cook on this slow wicket. Moeen Ali has so far been ineffective with his part time off-spin as he lacks variety in it.
