Kedar Jadhav smashed a match-winning century in the series opener against England. He justified his selection over Ajinkya Rahane in the playing XI by dismantling England’s bowling attack at his home ground in Pune.
Jadhav not only scored a hundred but also made a crucial 200-run partnership with Virat Kohli. He has credited his swashbuckling knock to Kohli, who also scored a century against England in the 1st ODI.
“Whenever you bat with Virat, it helps you,” Jadhav said. “Because the bowlers’ focus would be on him – how to get him out, how to control him. So that’s an advantage.”
“If you are batting with him, you sometimes get loose balls and more opportunities to score,” he added. “The bowlers are not able to put a lot of pressure on you, so that helps a lot.”
The second match of the three-match series will take place at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium on January 19. England are in a must-win situation, as a loss will seal the series for the Indian team.
India have already hammered England the five-match Test series 4-0.
