MS Dhoni is often seen practicing and training with his state side Jharkhand team. He is not only mentoring the youngsters, but also helping them. Jharkhand has reached the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy.
The Jharkhand team wanted Dhoni to not only mentor them, but also play the four-day matches. Dhoni, however, turned down the offer, as he has already retired from Test matches. He opted to mentor the team.
“Dhoni has been with the Jharkhand team for quite a while,” Rajiv Kumar said. “As you all know, he even practices with the team and was in the team’s dressing room for first two matches of the season.”

“With a wealth of experience, Dhoni’s presence as a mentor was a great move,” he added. “He counselled the team how to handle pressure, and He is senior and a perfect role model.”
“We wanted him to play the four-day games,” Kumar further added about Dhoni. “But, he said that he had retired from Test cricket and would be available for ODIs and T20s.”
Dhoni, meanwhile, will play for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to prepare for the Champions Trophy.
