The Indian Cricket Team set to get a new home ground in Delhi, as the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) is planning to build a new stadium.

Ravinder Manchanda, treasurer of the DDCA, informed about the plans of the new stadium, while adding that the project is expected to start soon near Dwarka.

“DDCA will have a new stadium near Dwarka,” Manchanda said. “Talks are on and we are going to start the project after identifying the land. Money won’t be much of an issue because we will make a proper team to assess every aspect.”

The new stadium, that would have a seating capacity of around 50,000 people, will provide a better connectivity to fans and Indian Cricket Team players from the airport.

According to the DDCA, 10 acres of land will be required to build the stadium, which is expected to finish by 2020, and they are in talk with the ministry of urban development that is headed by Venkaiah Naidu.

“We are working hard to make DDCA the model cricket association in the country, with the best facilities for players,” Siddharth Verma, DDCA’s cricket operations head, said. “We have more supporters than detractors. We shall not disappoint them.”
