The Indian Cricket Team has lost opener KL Rahul to fever. He will not take part in the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) has confirmed that he will not be available for selection.
Losing Rahul is a big blow for India, as they have arrived on the tour without Murali Vijay. Rahul made a fifty in the practice game against Sri Lanka, and was slated to open with Shikhar Dhawan in the 1st Test.

BCCI in a statement informed: “The BCCI medical team confirms that opening batsman Mr. KL Rahul is presently down with viral fever. There are no major health concerns and he is making rapid progress, much to the satisfaction of the medical team.
“As a precautionary measure, KL Rahul is advised further rest and hence will not be available for selection for the first Test match against Sri Lanka, which starts on July 26 at Galle.”
Abhinav Mukund will open the innings with Dhawan in the series opener at the Galle International Stadium.
