For next one week India cricket’s focus will be Duleep Trophy. Stars like Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan, and Yuvraj Singh ready to show their skill-set in the five-day game. This is perhaps after ages that a domestic game will have so much of buzz around it.
Domestic cricket is the most important foundation for every cricket star born in India. The Indian Cricket Board is also running from pillar to post and popularise a tournament like the Duleep Trophy.
The BCCI is hell-bent on changing the perception surrounding domestic cricket. It is pushing players to take part in Duleep Trophy, and also taking the tournament to small centers.
The board has become so serious with its domestic cricket policies that even the players who are picked in the Test series and not a part of the playing XI would have to take part in the Ranji Trophy games for their respective states.
The logic behind this is to keep every player match-fit and also keep the interest level going at the domestic circuit.
It’s also true that the cricketers have a mind of their own and they don’t an outside agency to track their work load.
However, deep down within even the players also know that being match-fit is ultimate way to keep going. So, the feeling is mutual. Now, the action shifts to 22-yard strip.
