The slow pitches in the Caribbean are much talked topic lately. In the recently concluded tri-series, the pitches were unlike the West Indies decks, which the Islands are known for producing.
In the upcoming India vs West Indies Test series, the similar slow wickets are expected. India’s premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is ready for the challenge and has already created a bowling plan.
“I’m sure it’s going to be challenging because of the kind of wickets, the kind of heat. From whatever I saw in the last (warm-up) game, the wickets were pretty slow,” Ashwin said. “I’m sure I’ll have to be as boring as possible in terms of trying to plug away all day long.”
Meanwhile, Ravi Ashwin is also working hard on his batting, which could prove crucial in the Test series. Test captain Virat Kohli likes to field five bowlers, so Ashwin’s batting could come handy for the visitors.
“That (batting) is something I work very hard on,” Ashwin insisted. “I have set some goals with the coaching staff, as to what I want to achieve – not just in terms of numbers, but in terms of how correct I can be, how much more solid I can become as a batter.”
