In order to bond well with each other apart from taking a precautionary measure in case of an injury was the main reason behind the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) sending a 17-member squad for the West Indies tour.
According to BCCI sources, even the Indian Cricket Team management is of the opinion that the players bond better away from home than in domestic tours.
“This is the time of the tour when the players are constantly in each other’s company. It is like one big happy family, where they are seen eating out together and even clicking pictures during a team outing. A big squad really helps,” a team insider revealed it to Drcricket7.
Whereas when the team is playing at home, it is like to each his own. “The players return home in between games if there is a huge gap. They travel separately if they are from different cities and join the team before the match,” the source explained.
Even for team building exercises, if the players are bonding well, that is the best thing to happen. “Those who are also not playing regularly, they are constantly in touch with the support staff to tighten their area of strength. It’s a good way to build a team for the future,” the source added.
