In the 1st Test, England made 537 in the first innings while batting first. India posted 488, in reply. In the second essay of the match, England batsmen were again on song and made a very convincing 260 for three.

In the fourth innings, India were reeling at a score of 172 for 6 when the match was declared a drawn encounter. Everyone talked about how India had lot a bit of edge in the Test match.

But, Drcricket7 was the only website which mentioned how India did well to make 488 in reply to England 537. Our blog also mentioned how England could have struggled against India if the hosts would have batted first.

As luck would have it, India batted first in the ongoing Visakhapatnam Test and made 455. They reduced England to 103/5 when stumps were called on Day 2.

As Drcricket7 pointed out earlier, batting second in a Test match that too after the opposition has put together a 500 plus score isn’t easy. India batted well in Rajkot and there wasn’t much to be read in the second innings collapse.

Their performance in Visakhapatnam also suggest so. From here, if India could dismiss England cheaply and put on more score to put the visitors to bat again. India would be looking to get a lead in the five-match Test series.

Right now, we have to wait and see how the Indian bowlers respond to the challenges.
