Perhaps, Kolkata would have been the best venue to decide on the India-England ODI series. Perhaps, a score line of 1-1 would have been kept all the excitement alive. But the India team has a different take to it.
After sealing the series in Cuttack itself, Virat Kohli and his men are now eyeing a whitewash in the ODI series.
It come to such a level that India won’t settle for anything less. The confidence of the team is so high that even the toss factor doesn’t seem to worry the team. This team is ready for all kinds of challenges.
Batting wise, captain Kohli can’t complain much. With Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, Kedar Yadav, India’s batting unit is almost set. So much so that even a casual follower of the game can tell you that this batting line-up is here to stay till the Champions Trophy in the United Kingdom.
The only hitch is the batting front is the form of opener Shikhar Dhawan. If the Delhi batsman won’t manage to get some runs in the 3rd ODI against England, it may not serve as a good news for him in the days to come.
As far as India’s bowling is concerned, it’s a mixed bag. It was a touch and go situation in Cuttack. England confronted the Indian attack quite confidently. They went pretty close to India’s grand total of 381.
At the Eden Gardens India would be looking to make amends in the bowling front. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya came as a fresh air for the Indian team. They didn’t concede too many runs in the 2nd ODI.
The good thing is the India spinners – Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja – are still continuing with their good form. They have managed to keep the England team under check.
Even Bhuvneshwar Kumar has set perfect example in the previous game. He bowled 28 dot balls. Now, we have to see how they perform in the last game of the series.
